WSOP Comes to Melbourne

For the first time ever, Melbourne will be hosting the World Series of Poker in 2013. PokerStars, the sponsor of the prestigious event, has signed a multi-year deal with the Crown Melbourne, planning to bring the World Series of Poker to the casino for years to come.

Next year, the Australian World Series of Poker will take place from April 4 to 13. There will be five bracelet events, which will attract players from around the world to compete for millions of dollars in prizes.

Since the World Series of Poker was established in 2007, it has only expanded once before. Beginning in Europe, the competition expanded to the United States. Now, it is making its way to Australia, establishing the country as one of the biggest poker markets in the world.

“It’s thrilling to think the World Series of Poker is coming to Australian soil,” says Joe Hachem, an Australian WSOP Champion. “It will be a dream come true to host a worldwide poker event such as this at Crown. I can’t wait.”

This will certainly be an exciting event. In the months leading up to the tournament, Crown will be holding qualifiers. You can also take part in satellites on PokerStars.
