One Direction is currently the most popular boy band in the world, making them role models of millions of young girls and boys. However, headlines have been plastered with news of them spending massive amounts of money at an Australian casino – and what’s worse – this is the second time the group has been in trouble involving casinos.
Earlier this year, One Direction was on tour Las Vegas and gossip columns noted that the group might be interested in gambling. Where the boys come from, the legal age to gamble is 18; however, Las Vegas requires a minimum age of 21. For the night, the city was on lockdown, as bouncers across Las Vegas were warned and the boys of One Direction were thrown out of several venues.
Now, One Direction is on a promotion tour in Australia, where they are of the legal gambling age. Unfortunately, they have still managed to tangle themselves up in a scandal. Headlines have proclaimed that members of the group have seen a huge loss (the amount of which is undisclosed) at a casino which has yet to be named – although insiders believe it was at the Crown Melbourne.
“It got a bit ugly and a lot of money was lost,” says Niall Horan. “When management found out, we got a serious dressing-down.”
