This week, SkyCity CEO Nigel Morrison announced the gaming firm’s new deal with the South Australian government. Local politicians have granted the casino operator the chance to renovate SkyCity Adelaide, a project that will cost $40 million.
As part of the project, SkyCity Adelaide will be installing new pokies and table games, as well as introducing high-stakes gaming. The casino will also undergo a design renovation, which will outfit the property with a more modern look. The gaming firm wants to attract more wealthy gamblers and more modern players with its new look.
The renovation of SkyCity Adelaide is in line with South Australia’s Riverbank Entertainment Precinct renewal project. This project aims to revitalize the area in order to attract more visitors. The Adelaide Oval will be redeveloped and the local convention centre will be expanded.
“Our world-class complex will be an integral part of the new entertainment, sporting and arts precinct being developed on the banks of the River Torrens, complementing the redeveloped Adelaide Oval and the new and expanded Adelaide Convention Centre,” says Nigel Morrison, SkyCity CEO.
The project completion date for the project is 2020. After the renovation, SkyCity will offer up 1000 new permanent jobs for local residents.
