SkyCity Auckland is one of the best-known casinos of both Australia and New Zealand, catering to all types of players from around the world. Usually, the venue maintains a very positive reputation, but recently an all-star guest had some complaints.
F1 Driver Lewis Hamilton was in Auckland ahead of the season’s opening race in Melbourne. He was seen at SkyCity on Monday and today, he took to Twitter to let the world know about his experience at the casino. He wrote:
“Don’t ever go to sky city casino in Auckland, they treated me like dirt. Can’t believe how rude they were. Worst casino experience ever”.
Hamilton is an international celebrity, and has over 3.2 million followers. So, his damning words about The Star could have a negative impact on the casino’s business. Many brands rely on celebrity endorsements, so this type of press could be very damaging to SkyCity.
SkyCity Auckland responded to the tweet very quickly. A representative tweeted:
“So sorry to hear “@lewishamilton didn’t have a good time with us last night. We pride ourselves on being good hosts – we’re following up w/ him”.
While the casino did not ask Hamilton to delete his tweet, the post was removed shortly after SkyCity issued its apology. Still, millions of followers read the message. Many followers are wondering exactly what happened while some have decided to heed his warning. For example, one follower wrote:
“Got it, I’ll stay well clear of that one then. Thanks for the heads up, Lewis!”
